The world is a dark place,
a place that allows no visitors to live.
Rope and wire keep people out,
those same things keep people in.
In school it is learned to hate,
at home those lessons are reinforced.
Fear is what keeps people going,
“enjoy” is just a word of the past.
Purpose for living gets lost,
looking for it again is impossible.
Minds are no longer individual,
self-exploration is not encouraged.
Precise thinking is forbidden,
thinking aloud is punished.
No one has an opinion,
no one knows to think themselves.
The world is a dark place,
a place that allows no visitors to die.
